A successful leader not only attracts followers but also cultivates future leaders. At Campus Rangers International School we want our students to be able to have opportunities to grow and develop vital skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. To lay the foundation for a successful future in leadership, we organised an exciting 3-day 2-night leadership camp that aimed to hone their skills and foster their leadership potential.
Day 1: Igniting Leadership Skills
The camp began with an engaging session led by UCSI facilitators who provided an in-depth talk about leadership. Through interactive icebreaker games and thought-provoking questions, the students gained insights into what truly makes a good leader. This lively start set the tone for the rest of the camp, opening the students’ minds to the potential they could unlock.
The first day’s activities continued with an indoor management game, challenging students to build the longest bridge using only newspapers and a few supplies. This exercise not only tested their teamwork but also their creativity and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the students designed their leadership crests, helping them identify their leadership traits and how they can apply them in real-life situations.
In the evening, the students showcased their talents in a spectacular talent show, featuring musical performances and dramatic acts. This was an excellent opportunity for the young leaders to shine, celebrate each other’s achievements, and foster a sense of unity among themselves.
Day 2: Exploring Teamwork and Adventure
The second day was packed with adventure and excitement as students took a trip to the serene Tadom Hill Resort, nestled in the forests of Banting. The day continued with a series of team-building activities, including “Rush Hour,” which involved answering questions about the resort’s facilities. This exercise not only provided them with knowledge about the resort but also encouraged teamwork and communication.
In another activity, the students were challenged to balance a tennis ball on a drum while pulling strings attached to it. They also crafted a hammock from ropes as part of a game that required them to carry a student across a designated area while the transported student collected balls and placed them into a bottle.
Later in the day, students enjoyed a variety of water activities such as rafting and canoeing. Additional thrilling adventures included ATV rides, go-karting, and a flying fox. These activities allowed the students to bond with one another, building trust and camaraderie along the way.
In the evening, the students experienced a session on growth mindset and art therapy with Mr. Eugene, the deputy principal and art teacher. The glow-in-the-dark art therapy offered a unique way for students to express themselves and reflect on their experiences.
Day 3: Wrapping Up the Journey
The final day of the camp began with a thought-provoking session on digital etiquette, communication, and online presence by Ms. Yasmin. This discussion highlighted the importance of maintaining professionalism and responsibility in today’s digital age, equipping the students with valuable knowledge for their future roles as leaders.
The camp concluded with a session for reflection and testimonials from the students. This provided an opportunity for them to share their personal growth and experiences, as well as the lessons they had learned over the three days.
This leadership camp was an unforgettable journey for the students of Campus Rangers a private school in Kuala Lumpur, providing them with valuable lessons and memories to carry with them as they continue to grow as leaders. Through exciting activities and meaningful discussions, the camp played a crucial role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
